Cradling my camera, I seek a subject in my August garden.
The canna? Its leaves are a rich tapestry of color, texture, and line.
But topmost leaf has a three-inch gash.
I sigh.
I check the lower leaves, but a good angle and lighting elude me.
I photograph the flawed top leaf, then peer beyond the crack and change the focus.
A little Photoshop cut and paste, and I have a diptych that makes me smile.
Sometimes difference between the sigh and the smile is the focus.
